Moments in Madrid
There's a certain kind of lucky that you get as a photographer. There's the type of luck where you the moments around you happen as they naturally would, and you get to capture like a documentarian, framing a sliver in time that captures a moment full of life, movement, and energy. Then there is the type of lucky where the physical space you are in gifts you with light and shadow, where colors dance and meld in a way that no matter what you do, you'll get beauty. And then there is the type of lucky, where you find a moment in time, where crowds gather in a square, subjects fall into shadow, streaks of light paint the bell tower – and the moment is perfect – and just as you click the shutter, someone steps in front of you with an iphone.
That's life. But I do think it adds a bit, to have a foreground element.
